This article aims to build a theoretical framework for the investigation of ambient music playlists published on YouTube, based on initial exploratory research. It is developed the concept of timbre's affective semiosis, which is defined as sound agencies that produce political, cultural, technological, and language signs based on the affections between listeners and sonorities. The transdisciplinary nature of our theoretical arrangement compels us to resort to alternative methodologies, such as musicology, ethnomusicology and acoustics, to advance the investigation of ambient music listening habits in future case studies.Downloads
