The article aims to investigate how films by Philippe Grandrieux, João Pedro Rodrigues and Pedro Costa, made between 1997 and 2006, associate the presence of the human figure with a principle of otherness. The works were organized as small journeys between the characters, emphasizing the failure, the search or the consolidation of the affective and social ties. We will discuss how the relationship with the other claims in each director the investment on the image space, the represented space, and the film space. To this end, we will focus on the analysis of visual dynamics and gestural performance.
