Abstract

This paper analyses the presence of science on the program schedule of two free-to-air broadcaster from Belém-PA, TV Liberal and Record Belém, respectively retransmitting Rede Globo and Rede Record. Based on the composite sample weeks and content analysis, we mapped the presence of science in the local programming, considering the local and national productions. We highlight that science is daily present in every time slot on free-to-air TV; that advertising is one of the main agents maintaining this scenario; and that the local program schedule is focused on what is produced on a national scale, that withers the local production and results in a lesser presence of science.
