Abstract

The article proposes an analysis of the relationship between the cultural industry and the advancement of information and communication technologies (ICTs), notably in light of the ideas of Walter Benjamin, Theodor Adorno e Günther Anders, through bibliographical research. Among the contemporary phenomena and trends investigated it has been highlighted the loss of reference and historical memory, given the assertion of presentism; the confrontation with the notion of objective truth; the processes of data extraction and eye capture; and the emergence of new image paradigms that advance the aestheticization of politics.

Gustavo Moura de Cavalcanti Mello, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brasil

Doutor em Sociologia pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), mestre em Sociologia e graduado em Economia pela mesma instituição. Realizou pós-doutorado em Economia pela USP e em Sociologia pela Universidade de Campinas (Unicamp). Atualmente é professor do Departamento de Economia e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Política Social da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES) e pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).

Doutora em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidad San Pablo-CEU (Madri) e graduada em Comunicação Social – Jornalismo pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES). Realizou pós-doutorado em Política Social na UFES, com bolsa do Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (PNPD/CAPES). É membro do Observatório da Mídia, Direitos Humanos, Políticas, Sistemas e Transparências (UFES).
