Content analysis, Disinformation, Fact-checking, ElectionAbstract
The study analyzes misinformation checked by Brazilian fact-checking agencies during the 2018 and 2022 elections, comparing themes, types of misinformation, and legitimizing sources. Based on 811 checks from three agencies, content analysis and mixed methods were applied. Results indicate a shift from entirely false content to misleading content, and from content without sources to those using real sources, suggesting a growing complexity in disinformation strategies and adaptation to the evolving disinformation system.
