Abstract

This theoretical essay aims at discussing the thematic of institutional visibility in relation to the process of mediatisation of society and the new interactional possibilities brought up by the information and communication technologies. It is organised in three sections: the first one will approach the mediatisation of society; the second, the socio-technical changes and the new possibilities of social interaction, and the third one discusses the issue of visibility, which leads to the understanding that institutional visibility can be the result of a strategic negotiation between institutions and their publics.
