Abstract

This work seeks to indicate the importance of Disney’s True-Life Adventures, released between 1948 and 1960, to form the wildlife films genre. The analysis privileges the sociocultural and economic elements that follow the nonhuman animals imagery at least since the emergence of the photographic camera in order to draw a perspective that allows to investigate both the relations of those films with the social ambiances that made them possible and the series’ significance to the construction of the genre in question. We recurred, thus, to the bibliographical analysis of the texts dedicated to the wildlife films and also to the ones that address previous but contemporary wildlife imagery.
